RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES  
UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS 
 
 
 
Purpose: To Create a School of Graduate Studies 
 
 
WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands awards graduate degrees in programs housed in various 
colleges and schools; and 
 
WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands offers a PhD in Creative Leadership for Innovation and 
Change, a trans-disciplinary program with tracks in Education, Creativity and Organizational Development; and  
 
WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands seeks to provide a structure to house the PhD in Creative 
Leadership for Innovation and change and other inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary programs; and  
 
WHEREAS; there is a need to foster greater working relationships among the units that support graduate 
activities, including graduate recruitment, admission and policies; and 
 
WHEREAS; the University of the Virgin Islands, seeks to provide greater oversight and consistency of 
graduate programs through the office of the Associate Provost for Graduate and Academic Affairs. 
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY 
THAT: 
 
1. The creation of a School of Graduate Studies to provide oversight for and coordination of graduate 
programs, and a home for inter-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary graduate degree programs is hereby 
approved. 
 
2. The President is authorized to take such action as is needed to implement this resolution. 
 
3. This resolution shall become effective June 20, 2020.

The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution of the Board of 
Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands and adopted at its meeting on Saturday, June 20, 2020 as
