President Trump Approves Governor Bryan’s Request for Emergency Declaration for USVI

U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS—President Donald Trump has approved the request made by Governor Albert Bryan Jr. to declare a federal emergency in the wake of Hurricane Dorian.

The president ordered federal assistance to supplement response efforts in the Territory, and his declaration authorizes the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate all disaster relief efforts and provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures.

The declaration specifically authorizes FEMA to identify, mobilize, and provide equipment and resources necessary for recovery from Hurricane Dorian, and emergency protective measures will be provided at 75 percent federal funding.
