staged

Christiansted
Junior High School
at
the
theatre
on Wednesday
evening,
and
it
is
very
gratifying
to be
able
to
an-
nounce
that it was
a perfect
success,
to
whieh
ail
those
interested
contributed
and of which t?ey
may
justly be pround.
It
would be impracticable
to
enumerate
the
various features
of
the
programme
which
was well carried
out oy the whole,
but
it
would
be
an
unjust
bmission
if
special
comment
be
not made
on the
ex-
cellence
of the stage
settings
which
w:re
so
true
to life
and
sn befitting
to
each
change
of scene
as
to be
truly
marvel-
lous.
This
work is to
the
ciredit of
the
principal,
Mr.
Juan
Rivera
who
is
an
artist
of
great
skill.
The
portrait
of
Presidert
Harding
was
an excellent hand
production
of
Master-
Melville
Stevens
and deserves
great
commendation:
The
likeness
was perfectly portrayed,
and the
neatness
of
the
work
very striking
at
the
closest
observation.
This
portrait
was presented
to His Evcellency
the
Gov-
ernor
who in
ac~epting,
left
his
seat
and
from the platform
delivered
an
ap-
propriate address
of encouragement,
and
appreciation
individually
to
young
Ste-
vens,
and in
general.
It islearnt
that
the frame
in which
the portrait
was
pre-
sented
was
also
made
by Stevens.
The
theatre
was
crowded
scarcely
stand-
ing reom being
available,
and the
enter-
tainm
nt lasted until
a
late
hour,
every-
body going home
well satisfied.
A footbali
maten
piayed on the Parade
Ground yesterday
afternoon
befween
the
Merry Jurverile
(formerly the
Fearless)
and
Excelsior
Clubs
resulted
in
a
victory
for the former
by
2 goals
to none.

Dr. Dukeshire of the Frecderiksted
Muni-
cipal Hospital,
who on being
sworn,
tes-
tified that
he had performed
the
autopsy
on
the
body
of the
deceased
Caroline
Jarvis.
He had found
a gunshot
wound
on the
side of the neck,
entering
in at the angle
of the
Jaw,
penetrating
fthe
neck.
