TO: DPNR c/o Ms. Lei LaPlace FROM: Linda Valerino (340-643-8233) DATE: March 24, 2021 SUBJ: Application ZAC-21-3 Proposed Zone Change to 6a Estate Beeston Hill I had attended the public hearing virtually in relation to the above application. In response to the DPNR Commissioner’s request about any wildlife that frequents the area, I can relay information as to my observations as the owners of Plot 31, 32, and 35a in and around Estate Beeston Hill. While I am not sure whether they are considered exotic or not, I have observed the following wildlife: Deer Iguana Ground Lizards Mongoose Toads Tree Frogs Brown Noddy American Kestrel Falcons White-Crowned Pigeon Red-necked Pigeon Hummingbirds Bananaquits Smooth-bill Ani (as they come to the Virgin Islands to nest) Osprey Snowy Egret Common Egret White-breasted Thrasher Little Blue Heron Magnificent Frigatebird Gray Kingbird Doves (numerous different ones) Again, I will state my objection to the re-zoning of R-1 property near/adjacent to my Beeston Hill property. A Business Scattered change to 6a Estate Beeston Hill will affect or deplete the wildlife populations that are not only on St. Croix but those who fly into the territory to re- populate (nest). Thank you for your time and consideration of this information.
