UVI Board of Trustees 
Goals for FY 2014-2015 
 
1. Create a mechanism for presentations, by internal stakeholders at the University 
(e.g., students, faculty, and staff), to the Board, at meetings of its standing 
committees and in the public session of the Board Meetings, in order to increase 
trustees' knowledge of the institution, its programs, research, and community-
service.  
 
2. Continue to have a progress-report on the Strategic Plan 2017 presented at each 
Board Meeting.  
 
3. Continue to help find ways to resolve the financial challenges of the University.   
 
4. Continue to update policies of the Board, such as the policy on the naming of 
buildings. 
 
5. Assess whether a change in the term of the trustees elected by the students and 
faculty should be recommended to the Legislature and research what is best 
practice on representation of the staff of the institution on the boards of public 
colleges and universities. 
 
6. Prepare a presentation for trustees on each of the boards of entities affiliated with 
the University (i.e., FUVI, RCA, and RTPark) in order to give trustees a better 
understanding of the role and responsibilities of each of these board.  
 
7. Development of a presentation by the Executive Committee and the President, 
for review and approval by the Board, to inform officials of the executive and/or 
legislative  branches of the V.I. Government on the strategic goals of the 
University and the appropriation necessary to achieve those goals.
