a UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION Purpose: To approve an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands is committed through its mission and current plan to support the intellectual and skills development of the Virgin Islands workforce and to create partnerships with the VI Department of Education, and WHEREAS, this program arises from an agreement which the University of the Virgin Islands has signed with the Department of Education for the “Institution of an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology,” and WHEREAS, the Department of Education will sponsor and finance this Education Specialist program for a cohort of thirty students (divided equally between St Croix and St. Thomas), and WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands has the right to admit another twenty tuition paying students, and WHEREAS, the faculty of the Division of Education approved this proposal on April 23, 2002, and WHEREAS, the Graduate Council approved this proposal on May 10, 2002, and WHEREAS, the faculty approved this proposal on May 16, 2002, and WHEREAS, the Cabinet approved this proposal on May 16, 2002, and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Board of Trustees approves a new degree program leading to an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology, which will initially be offered to a single cohort of students and offered in the future based on demand.
