University of the Virgin Islands 
The University of the Virgin Islands offers a traditional American 
approach to higher education to its diverse student body. Be-
cause the American style of education is recognized worldwide 
as a superior educational experience, you can be confident that 
a UVI education is comparable to the college education offered 
at any mainland U.S. college or university. However, when 
compared to many U.S. universities, there is one major  
difference – our class sizes are small. With approximately 2,500 
students and a student-to-faculty ratio as low as 9 to 1, you’ll 
receive individualized attention and opportunities to fully  
participate in class discussions at UVI.  
UVI students come from the U.S. Virgin Islands, many states 
and bordering countries. Faculty members also come from a 
variety of countries and cultural backgrounds. Together they 
blend their international perspectives and cultures on a  
campus that is dedicated to developing well-prepared and 
well-rounded students. 
At UVI, the college experience is like no other. Our  
Marine Science Center is a virtual underwater classroom 
where you may spend more time in a wet suit than 
seated in a classroom chair. Students can prepare for 
final exams while reclining in a beach chair. Outdoor 
concerts are not confined only to the summer months; 
at UVI , outdoor cultural events are year-round activities.  
This uniquely Caribbean college experience 
goes beyond the serene tropical setting. The 
Caribbean spirit of compassion and caring is
