Canadian
postal officials will r ow prepare
a
new convention
between
the twoeo

tries
to supersede
the convention
of 18:3
and forward it to Washington
for approv
al.
The
eonvention
will embody
the deci-
sions of the Conference,
and according
o
present
unuderstanding,
will
come
into
effect January
Ist.
This afternoon’s
sit-
ting was devoted
to
the
clearing
up
-f
business
left over
from
the
morning
and
the exchange
of
views
on
depart-
mental
work.
It
was agreed that
each
country
should
grant
to
the
other
free
transit
aecross
the
territory
by
all trains that it uses for its own mails of
the closed
maii made
up
by any
author-
ized
exchange
office
of
either
eountry
addressed
toany
exchange
office
of the
same
country.
The
United
States
also
agreed
to carry Lanadian
parcel
post
in
transit
across
the United
States
territory
to South
American
countries
by the route
she
now uses for the transmission
of
her
ov/n parcels
on payment
of
twenty
cents
a pound by Canada.
At the present
time
Canadian
parcels
to
some
of
the
South
American
countries
have to be
routed
via
England.
