Gittens and Samuel Carriόn Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. (a) The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority shall issue a monthly 2 water bill abatement to St. Croix residential and commercial customers receiving potable water 3 service in areas officially declared as being impacted by unsatisfactory levels of lead and copper 4 as provided in this section: 5 (1) The abatement amount must be equal to 50% of the customer’s average water bill 6 for the months of May through October 2023. 7 (2) The abatement commences the first billing cycle after the enactment date of this act 8 and continues for five consecutive billing cycles, for a total of six billing cycles. 9 BILL SUMMARY 10 This bill requires the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority to issue a monthly water 11 bill abatement for six months to St. Croix residential and commercial customers receiving 12 potable water service in areas officially declared as being impacted by unsatisfactory levels of 13 lead and copper.
