Man Arrested for Stabbing Incident and Charged for Attempted Murder 
 
Christiansted St. Croix- On Monday, October 3, 2022, at around 10:49 a.m., a Virgin 
Islands Superior Court Marshall, requested Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to travel 
to Estate Richmond Beach, Christiansted, in the vicinity of David Hamilton Jackson Terrace 
Housing Community, for an adult male with multiple stabs wounds.  
 
CIB Detectives then traveled to investigate the incident and discovered in the investigation 
that Lafayette Artis, 29-years-old and the victim had an ongoing feud and Mr. Artis attacked 
the victim stabbing him in the upper back, and the back of the neck. 
 
On Thursday morning November 17, 2022, an arrest warrant was issued by the Superior 
Court of the Virgin Islands for Mr. Artis. At 6:40p.m., Mr. Artis was arrested and charged 
with Attempted Murder. Bail was set at $100,000; Mr. Artis was unable to post bail and was 
remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility, pending his advice of rights hearing.
