Pedestrian Collision Claimed the Life of a 65-year-old Woman 
 
St. Thomas, USVI - On Friday, August 4, 2023, a vehicle traveled on Rumar Drive and 
turned into the Lockhart Garden parking lot in the area of Kmart. The operator of the vehicle 
attempted to park in a parking space but lost control of the vehicle. Along the way the vehicle 
collided with several other vehicles, a cart, as well as a pedestrian. Unfortunately, the 
pedestrian succumbed to injuries sustained in this collision. 
The pedestrian was identified by family members as 65-year-old Ms. Lavern Liburd-
Thompson. 
The investigation into this matter continues.
