18-year-old Male Arrested for Shooting Incident that  
Left Six Individuals Injured in Peter’s Rest 
St. Croix, USVI - On March 4, 2023, at approximately 3:01 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call 
Center received reports of shots being fired in the Peters Rest area in the vicinity of Tipsy 
Iguana. Upon the arrival of the responding officers, they learned that six people were shot 
and transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center. Members of the Criminal 
Investigation Bureau responded and learned that there was an argument and several male 
individuals with guns began discharging shots at each other. During this investigation it was 
disclosed that one of the males was identified as Mr. Devonte George. 
On June 29, 2023, this case was filed with the Superior Court and an arrest warrant was 
signed by the Court for Mr. Devonte George’s arrest. His bail was set at $75,000.00. On July 
4, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., 18-year-old Mr. Devonte George turned himself in at the 
Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. He was advised of his rights; placed under arrest 
without incident. He was charged with Assault in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment 
First, Assault in the Third, Carrying of firearm openly or concealed, aiming, and discharging 
a firearm. Mr. George was booked and unable to post his bail. He was then transported to the 
John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing at the Superior Court 
for July 5, 2023.
