Dear Senator Lewis,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter in support of Bill No. 36-0107 honoring
the many accomplishments of Dr. Alfred Lee Anduze.
I have known Dr. Anduze my entire life. The bond between our families span more
than eight decades. Although our lives have often taken us down differing paths, that
bond is as strong today as k was when we were growing up in Estate La Grande
Princesse. When my mother was diagnosed with dementia two years ago, “Freddie” as
he is affectionately known to me, sent me a copy of his book Un-Unusual People A
Caregiver’s Manual. His “Ups and “suggestions” not only guided me as I managed her
care, but taught me to be patient with myself on those days when things just didn’t seem
to go right.
The Roman statesman Cicero once said that “the eyes like a sentinel occupy the
highest place in the body.” Dr. Anduze’s empathy and unwavering commitment to his
patients not only saved lives, but brought hope and healing to many struggling with the
fear and uncertainty of losing their sight. The impact of his contributions to the field of
ophthalmology extends far beyond the confines of hospitals and clinics. He has helped
to shape health care systems, drive medical advancements, and champion public health
initiatives.
In closing, not only does Bill No. 36-0107 celebrate the unwavering dedication of Dr.
Alfred Lee Anduze to field of medicine and the healing arts, it serves as a testament to
the fact that his accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. I thank you for your
