Youth Ocean Explorers Summary of Activities  Swimming Lessons for beginners and snorkeling opportunities both in St. Thomas and St. John.  Kayaking at Mangrove Lagoon (St. Thomas East End Reserves) to observe the largest standing mangrove forest on St. Thomas.  Conducting scientific research alongside UVI research faculty and staff.  Hiking through the Magens Bay trail as well as in St. John.  Learning about endangered species such as sea turtles by visiting Turtle Cove, St. Thomas.  Presentations given by UVI research faculty on a myriad of topics such as: Mangrove forests, Coral reefs, Endangered species, Fish identification, and Conducting scientific experiments.  Students will get to interact and hear from professionals within the Virgin Islands who have careers in a marine-related field (Fish and Wildlife, National Park Service, and many others).
