and effective.1

than

be eligi-
ble
to hold office as
a
member
of
the
Colonial
Councils
of the Virgin Islands
of
the United
States
nor
to hold
any
public office
under
the Government
of
said
islands:
Provided
further
that
th: income
tax
laws
now in foree
in
the
United States
of America
and
those
which
may
here-
after
be
enacted
shall
be
like vise
1n
force
in
the
Virgin
Islands
of
the
United States
except
that the proceeds
of such
taxes
shall
be
paid
into
the
treasuries
of said ‘slands.”’
