GIS manages the development, maintenance, and distribution of Virgin Islands infrastructure, GIS information and related databases. GIS uses the power of modern mapping technologies to improve the Territory’s functions and achieve cost savings through increased efficiency, better informed decision making, enhanced communication, accessible and simplified recordkeeping and increased itizen engagement. GIS is widely known for its Street Addressing Initiative (SAI). At its completion, GIS will develop a Master Address Repository that will link with other systems, databases and applications through government and service providers.
