Resolution authorizing the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees to approve the Fiscal

Year 2009 Appropriation Request to the Government of the Virgin Islands and the Fiscal Year

2009 Operating Budget



WHEREAS, the University has been advised by the Office of Management and Budget of the

Government of the Virgin Islands that the Fiscal Year 2009 appropriation request is due January

31, 2008; and



WHEREAS, the annual appropriation from the Government of the Virgin Islands represents

approximately 60% of the revenues of the University’s operating budget; and



WHEREAS, the next meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands

would not be held until after January 31, 2008.



NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE

UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AS FOLLOWS:



A. That, for the purpose of meeting the established due date of January 31, 2008 for the

submission of the University’s Fiscal Year 2009 appropriation request to the Government of

the Virgin Islands, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees is hereby authorized to

approve the University’s Fiscal Year 2009 appropriation request and Fiscal Year 2009

Operating Budget on behalf of the Board of Trustees.



B. That the Executive Committee shall report to the Board at the Spring 2008 meeting on the

action(s) taken by it relative to the aforementioned appropriation request and operating

budget, and the Board shall ratify or revoke such action(s).



C. That the President and Vice-President for Administration and Finance are authorized to take

such actions as are necessary and proper to implement this resolution.
